Weare Hazard Mitigation Committee

The Weare Hazard Mitigation Plan has been developed to help Weare become a disaster-resistant community by taking measures to reduce future losses from natural or man-made hazardous events before they occur. The Weare Hazard Mitigation Committee (WHMC), made up of community members and town officials, developed the plan and is currently updating it in 2011 as required by FEMA. Public input is encouraged at all committee meetings. Please contact Paul King, Emergency Management Director, for questions or input on the plan.

Southern New Hampshire Region Community Preparedness Program

The Southern New Hampshire Region Community Preparedness Program (SNHRCPP) is a regional effort by all of the municipalities in the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission Region to increase citizen preparedness.

The Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission in partnership with the City of Manchester has developed the Southern New Hampshire Region Community Preparedness Program (SNHRCPP) in response to the overwhelming need for community preparedness in our region and in our State. Since 2005, New Hampshire has experienced a destructive series of events, including floods, a major tornado and the most serious ice storm in its history in December 2008. Most recently, New Hampshire experienced an intense windstorm from February 25-26, 2010, which brought down trees and limbs, knocked out power to over 270,000 residents and caused major flooding, rivaling the floods of Mother’s Day 2006. This storm was followed two weeks later by a nor’easter, which caused more flooding, with the hardest hit areas in the southern part of the State.

To find out more about what you can do in order to increase your own preparedness and for the latest news and events regarding natural disasters, preparedness and response, please visit: http://www.snhrcpp.org
